About Me

A Michigan man at the core, I split time growing up in two small towns outside of Detroit. In the first of many moves, I left the East side in favor of Westeren Michigan University where I DJed at the world's finest radio station (89.1fm WIDR), studied English, and met my astonishing wife. I've booked/promoted concerts, tried my hand at graphic design, dabbled in project management, and am currently enjoying teaching English as a Foreign Language in South Korea.

This Far From Detroit was started as a side project to dispel some of the myths about ex-pat life and what it means to "stay gone" long term. My hope is that this site can also provide a jumping off point for those looking to travel to similar places with city guides and tips on where I've been so far.
